Bryan McAuley is the Site Manager at Levi Jordan Plantation State Historic Site, one of the historic sites operated by the Texas Historical Commission. Work now in progress includes archaeological investigations and structural stabilization. Levi Jordan SHS is located at 7234 FM 521, southwest of Brazoria.
McAuley joined the Texas Historical Commission in May of 2008 as part of the recently developed Historic Sites Division. He currently serves as the site manager for two developing properties, the Levi Jordan Plantation and the San Felipe de Austin State Historic Sites. He previously worked for the Texas Office of the Attorney General from 1996-2000, leaving that agency to enter the museum/heritage tourism field. He was the first regional coordinator for the Texas Independence Trail Region heritage tourism initiative, and subsequently joined the staff of the Fort Bend Museum Association as Director of Marketing. During his tenure with the Fort Bend Museum Association, he also served as Director of Programs at the George Ranch Historical Park (managed by Association) and as Deputy Director of Historical Services.
McAuley has published on several historical topics and has been a presenter at state and national museum conferences. He currently serves as the Mountain/Plains Regional Co-Representative for the Association for Living History, Farm and Agricultural Museums (ALHFAM).
McAuley received a BA in government/anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin and an MA in political science/sociology from Texas State University. Bryan lives in Rosenberg with his wife, Amanda, and two daughters, Zoe and Piper.
