October is Texas Archeology Month! 
  
LEVI JORDAN PLANTATION, Brazoria
October 5,  10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Texas Historical Commission staff members will discuss the development plans for this unique plantation property, which is not yet open on a daily schedule.
Walking tours of the site will give visitors an overview of the history of its past occupants, ongoing preservation efforts, and the rich archeological resources that are an important part of interpreting this site. The tour includes a stroll through the quarters area, where former slave residences once stood.

VARNER-HOGG PLANTATION, West Columbia
October 19,  5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Come celebrate the season at Varner-Hogg Plantation's Harvest Festival and learn about harvesting on an 1800s plantation. Visitors can view tools and wagons used in harvesting sugar cane, see and taste real sugar cane, and learn how it was gathered and processed.

Take a hayride and search for our plantation scarecrows. Grab a sack and pick cotton for a while. There will be storytelling, live animals, craft activities, and free refreshments!
