Southeast Texas Museum Association (SETMA) fall meeting

Good afternoon everyone,

It felt so good to type the word “fall” and know that when I return to my car this afternoon, I will not be enveloped in a cloud of steam that will suck the very life out of me. Yes, indeed, the good times—weather-wise—are back. So let’s join each other and celebrate cooler weather and call on one of our newest area museums.  Joy Boone has kindly invited us to meet at the Houston Bicycle Museum. It will be such a treat to explore their facility in the Museum District! The address is below, but it’s easy to find as  it is just down Binz from the MFAH and around the corner from the Holocaust Museum.

      Mission Statement
The goal of the Bicycle Museum is to display collections of antique and classic bicycles as well as exhibiting cycle related memorabilia. The Museum will cover the spectrum of cycling by beginning at its infancy in the mid-1850's and chronicling its evolution through to the most sophisticated of today.
Throughout this journey, the Museum will provide an informative and educational glimpse of how the bicycle and cycling has influenced our transportation, our leisure activities, our culture, our society, our lives - and how, by using the developing technologies of each era, the bicycle has progressed in our ever-changing world.
The history book of the bicycle is a fascinating story. It is the desire of this Museum to bring the pages of that book to life.

See you in a few weeks at the Houston Bicycle Museum on November 7th.

Regards,
Susan , SETMA President
