Bio Blitz Volunteer Opportunities 
-- October 1, 2016 --  Bio Blitz is a biological survey to find and identify as many species as possible conducted during a short period of time in a designated area.  
Katy Prairie Conservancy's Indian Grass Preserve will be the location of this exciting event.  
Volunteers are needed to:
(1)  Lead a team as a subject matter expert,
(2)  Assist subject matter experts  in the field to locate and identify interesting specimens,
(3) Photograph interesting specimens
(4) Photograph specimens in studio environments at the base camp
(5) Assist with activities open to the public as the base camp.
Put your expertise as a dragonfly, butterfly, snake, bird, or flower lovers to good use.  Learn more about your expertise by working with scientists and other naturalists.  
Volunteers are also needed as scribes, equipment carriers, hosts, runners, etc.  Bring your friends and family.  Sunrise to Sunset or as long as you can volunteer.  
Activities open to the public from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

COUNT WILDLIFE WITH US!
October 1st and 8th

Katy Prairie Bioblitz - October 1, 2016

Join renowned local naturalists to survey the amazing array of life on the Katy Prairie Preserve. You can either visit 'Home Base' at our Field Office/Indiangrass Preserve and see what teams are discovering in the field or even join a team and discovery the prairie's biodiversity.

Can't make it out to the prairie but still want to join in on the fun? If so, you can join wildlife experts for the 1st Annual Great Houston Wildlife Count. This is an exciting day of discovery of counting and photographing everything from bees, to bats, to bigmouth bass, in some of Houston's great parks and wildspaces. 

You'll have fun while contributing to our understanding of urban wildlife. This event is also a part of the statewide Texas Pollinator Bioblitz, so your contributions can have a statewide impact! Great free event for individuals, students, and families.

Counts will take place in four locations (1) Buffalo Bayou Park (2) Houston Arboretum & Nature Center (3) Rice University/Hermann Park and (4) Mason Park.

The Katy Prairie Conservancy is excited to announce that it has achieved accreditation from the Land Trust Accreditation Commission. This is a mark of distinction in land conservation and signifies the Commission's confidence that KPC's lands will be protected forever.
Help KPC preserve vital tallgrass prairie and associated wetlands on Houston's far west side.
