Friends of Brazoria Wildlife Refuges Annual Meeting

You are invited to attend the Annual Meeting of Friends of the Brazoria Wildlife Refuges next Wednesday, January 30th at 3:30 pm at Texas Mid-coast National Refuge Refuge Complex headquarters. Map

At the Annual meeting, Board members are elected for the year. Currently we have 13 members interested in being on the Board and our by-laws allow for 15 Board members. So if you are interested in running for the Board, please let me know.

Annual Meeting Agenda

  • Election of Board Members
  • Brief Financial Report
  • Brief Project Update
  • Field Trip

The Field Trip will be to the Wild Peach Unit (formerly the Brother's tract). It's a new acquisition that only the staff has seen. This will be an audience participation visit since we will be planting pecan trees. A great way for Master Naturalists to get their volunteer hours.

Please bring boots, hats, sun block & long pants (dewberry vines might prick you). The refuge has 20 broom handles to make holes in the ground, prior to dropping in a seed. If you want, bring a broom handle or a sharp shooter to make the planting hole.

The refuge will supply water since the high is predicted to be 78F. Consider some raingear since there is a 30% chance of thunderstorms for the 30th.

This is a great opportunity to see a new unit and help reforest the area.

Hope you can make it!

Thanks, Ed Barrios, Presidnet, FOBWR 979-297-1815 (h) 979-415-4998 (c) ed77566@comcast.net
