The San Bernard River Watershed Protection Plan is an ongoing project to improve water quality in the San Bernard River through voluntary measures (more information can be found at the linked site). The San Bernard currently has elevated levels of fecal bacteria and other water quality issues which can impact public health, recreation, local economies, and the environment.
WPP Revisions
H-GAC has completed a draft of revisions to the Watershed Protection Plan (click to view) that was originally developed by local stakeholders, the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). We are asking that you review the document between now and December 2nd. You can provide comments by either:
· Calling 713-499-6653
· Emailing Justin.bower@h-gac.com
· Sending comments to Justin Bower, Houston-Galveston Area Council, 3555 Timmons Lane, Suite 120, Houston, TX 77227
The revisions primarily deal with updating computer model estimates with new data, and revising timelines to reflect current progress and efforts. No other appreciable changes have been suggested to the decisions made by the stakeholders in the original project.
Public Meeting – Save the Date!
H-GAC will be holding a public meeting on Wednesday, November at 2:00 PM to receive feedback from the public on the revisions. More information will follow shortly, but please save the date!
I would be happy to answer any questions you have about the project, the WPP, or the upcoming public meeting.
Respectfully,
Justin Bower
